Oman proposed 400kV grid interconnection system
According to the Omani Times, Oman is exploring the feasibility of connecting the domestic grid to achieve interoperability between the Oman Petroleum Development Special Area and the Dhofar Power System.
Oman Electric purchasing company OPWP is planning to strengthen the regional energy supply by building a 400-kilovolt grid interconnection system to connect Oman Petroleum Development Zone, Nizwa, Duqm and Dhofar power systems as the only electricity supplier in Oman.
OPWP said that the construction of domestic power grid interconnection can effectively improve the power system between the scheduling, increase the proportion of renewable energy power, reduce operating costs.
At present, Oman has a total of two major interconnected systems, namely MIS power system and Dehall power system.
